Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized Experience: Applicants must have One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-04) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Responsibility for the purchasing of a wide variety of specialized merchandise (possibly with special delivery, storage, or usage requirements) with varied supply sources. Experience should demonstrate a greater that basic level of planning, resourcefulness, attention to detail, research and resource utilization. ORApplicants may substitute education for the experience required for the GS-05 level. 4 years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite is creditable at grades GS-3 through GS-5. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.ORApplicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at the GS-05 level. To calculate, first identify the percentage of required education you have earned (when substituting, you cannot use the first 60 semester hours that you earned). Then identify the percentage of required experience you possess. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at the GS-05. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary and is carried out in an office setting. There exists prolonged periods of working at a computer terminal. Ability to retrieve equipment from a storage room is required. Climbing associated with stocking of equipment and other items in storage areas is necessary. Ability to carry/lift items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. Time-in-grade: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. For a GS-04 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05 level.
